Continental EV Coordination

Africa's electric mobility transition will only reach its full potential through coordinated policies, harmonised standards, and stronger collaboration across borders. As regional trade and transport corridors become increasingly integrated, governments, regulators, industry, and regional institutions have a unique opportunity to align vehicle standards, charging infrastructure, customs procedures, fiscal incentives, and regulatory frameworks that enable investment and accelerate market growth at a continental scale.

This track brings together African governments, the African Union, regional economic communities, national EV associations, development partners, and industry leaders to build a shared roadmap for Africa's electric mobility transition. It also recognises that successful coordination must be inclusive—supporting accessible mobility, workforce development, local industrialisation, and equitable participation across society. Drawing on Nordic and European experience while responding to African priorities, the track aims to strengthen regional cooperation and develop practical recommendations that support implementation on the Road to COP32.
