The Nordic-Africa EV Summit will take place from 14–16 September 2026 at the Science Museum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The first day will include industry visits, workshops and the official reception. The main conference programme will take place on 15 and 16 September.

The Science Museum, officially known as the Ethiopia Museum of Art and Science, is located on Niger Street in central Addis Ababa. It is close to Friendship Park, Unity Park and the government district.

A precise entrance location and arrival instructions will be shared with registered delegates before the Summit.

Registration opens at 08:00 on 15 and 16 September. Delegates should arrive early enough to complete registration and security checks before the programme begins at 09:00.

Participants attending activities on 14 September will receive separate arrival instructions because some workshops and visits take place at different locations.

Yes. English is the principal language of the Summit. Any interpretation arrangements for specific sessions will be communicated in advance.

Business or smart business attire is recommended. Addis Ababa can be cool in the mornings and evenings, so delegates should bring a light jacket or additional layer.

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and passport. International delegates should confirm the requirements that apply to them before travelling.

Delegates who require a visa should apply for an Ethiopian Visitor/Tourist Visa, rather than a Workshop/Conference Visa. A valid Summit ticket or an invitation letter from the organisers can be used as supporting confirmation of the purpose of the visit.

The standard application requires a recent passport-size photograph and a passport valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry. Applications should be submitted only through the official Ethiopian eVisa website.

Delegates should avoid unofficial visa websites or intermediaries claiming to represent the Ethiopian Government.

Registered delegates who require a supporting invitation letter may request one from the Summit team.

The letter can confirm the name, dates and venue of the Summit. Receiving an invitation letter does not guarantee that a visa will be issued; the final decision rests with the Ethiopian immigration authorities.

Delegates should request their letter well before travelling and ensure that the name supplied matches the name in their passport.

The Ethiopian eVisa portal currently states that tourist visas are normally processed within three days. Delegates are nevertheless strongly encouraged to apply well before travelling in case additional information or verification is required.

International delegates should book flights to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, airport code ADD.

Bole International Airport is the principal international gateway to Ethiopia and the main hub of Ethiopian Airlines.

Ethiopian Airlines provides extensive connections into Addis Ababa from across Africa and the wider international market.

African connections include major cities such as Nairobi, Kigali, Entebbe, Dar es Salaam, Lusaka, Harare, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Accra, Lagos, Abuja, Abidjan, Dakar, Cairo and Djibouti.

European gateways served by Ethiopian Airlines include Stockholm, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Brussels, Vienna, Geneva and other major cities. The airline also connects Addis Ababa with destinations in North America, the Middle East and Asia.

Some services advertised as direct may include an intermediate stop. Frequencies and routings also vary by travel date. Delegates should therefore check their precise itinerary using the Ethiopian Airlines flight schedule.

Stockholm is an important Ethiopian Airlines gateway in the Nordic region. Ethiopian Airlines also sells services from Oslo and Copenhagen, although the routing may include an intermediate European stop depending on the date.

Delegates travelling from Finland or Iceland will normally need a connection through another Ethiopian Airlines or Star Alliance gateway.

The best option should be checked using the actual travel dates, as schedules and stopping patterns can change.

No. Delegates are responsible for arranging and paying for their own international and domestic travel unless a specific package states otherwise.

Any special Ethiopian Airlines delegate fare, promotional code or booking arrangement will be published separately if confirmed.

Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa is the Summit’s principal accommodation partner. The hotel is located at Meskel Square in central Addis Ababa.

It is approximately 15 minutes by car from Bole International Airport under normal traffic conditions. Rooms remain subject to availability, so delegates are encouraged to book early.

Hyatt Regency is approximately 1–1.5 kilometres from the Science Museum.

Depending on the entrance being used, it is around a 15–20-minute walk or a short taxi journey. Traffic, security arrangements and road access may affect travel time during the Summit.

Any organised transfers between Hyatt Regency and the Science Museum will be communicated to registered delegates once confirmed.

No. Delegates may arrange their own accommodation. Staying around Meskel Square, the UNECA district or central Bole generally provides convenient access to the venue and airport.

Delegates staying elsewhere should allow additional time for morning traffic.

Hyatt Regency provides airport shuttle services on request. These must be arranged directly with the hotel in advance. Hotel taxis and other private airport-transfer services are also available.

Unless specifically included in a delegate package, airport transfers are the responsibility of the participant.

Yes. Feres is one of the principal locally operated ride-hailing services in Addis Ababa. Rides can be requested through the app or by calling 6090. The service accepts cash, mobile money and card payments, although international visitors should keep some Ethiopian birr available.

RIDE and Little are additional local options. Hotel-arranged vehicles may be preferable for airport arrivals, late-night journeys or larger groups.

Several central locations are within walking distance, but road crossings, uneven pavements, rain and security-controlled areas can make journeys take longer than expected.

Walking during daylight is possible between Hyatt Regency and the Science Museum precinct. A taxi is recommended when travelling at night, carrying equipment or working with a tight programme schedule.

The Science Museum is located beside one of Addis Ababa’s main cultural and public-space precincts.

Friendship Park, also known as Friendship Square or Sheger Park, is close to the Science Museum and includes landscaped gardens, water features and city views.

Unity Park is situated nearby within the historic Grand Palace compound. It combines heritage buildings, gardens, exhibitions and wildlife areas. Entry procedures, identification requirements and opening times should be checked before visiting.

The Red Terror Martyrs’ Memorial Museum is beside Meskel Square and only a few minutes from Hyatt Regency.

Hyatt lists Unity Park at approximately 1.4 kilometres from the hotel and Friendship Park at approximately 1.7 kilometres. Both can be reached by a short taxi journey or a longer walk.

Delegates with additional time may consider the National Museum of Ethiopia, Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Ethnological Museum and Entoto Park.

Opening hours and access arrangements can change, particularly at government or heritage sites. Confirm before travelling and carry identification.

September marks the later part of the rainy season. Days are generally mild, while mornings and evenings can be cool. Rain is still possible.

Bring a light jacket, an umbrella or raincoat and comfortable shoes suitable for wet pavements.

Yes. Addis Ababa is located at approximately 2,350 metres above sea level. Some visitors may initially notice shortness of breath, tiredness or mild headaches.

Drink enough water, avoid overexertion immediately after arrival and allow time to adjust.

The local currency is the Ethiopian birr (ETB).

Major hotels and some established businesses accept international cards, but card payments are not universally available. Carrying a reasonable amount of local currency is recommended for taxis, small purchases and incidental expenses.

Addis Ababa uses East Africa Time, UTC+3, throughout the year. Ethiopia does not observe daylight-saving time.

Coffee, tea and lunch are included during the published conference programme on 15 and 16 September. Catering arrangements for workshops, industry visits and evening activities on 14 September may differ and will be communicated to confirmed participants.

Delegates should notify the Summit team in advance of any allergies or dietary requirements.

Delegates requiring mobility assistance, dietary accommodation or other accessibility support should contact the Summit team before travelling. This allows the organisers and venue team time to make appropriate arrangements.
