Amare Zerihun

Advancing reliable, secure and resilient energy systems for a future shaped by transport electrification and digitalisation.

Dr. Tesfaye Amare Zerihun is a Research Scientist at SINTEF Energy Research in Trondheim, Norway. He holds an M.Sc. in Communication Technology and Information Security and a PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His research focuses on reliable, secure and resilient cyber-physical energy systems, smart-grid communications, power-system digitalisation and advanced testing and validation methods, including co-simulation and hardware-in-the-loop platforms.

Tesfaye has contributed to several Norwegian and European research and innovation projects addressing the future integration of energy, transport and communication systems. His work spans smart grids, 5G-enabled power systems, cybersecurity for critical infrastructure and the validation of next-generation energy solutions. He has authored numerous scientific publications in these areas.

At the Nordic–Africa EV Summit, he will share lessons from Norway’s EV transition and SINTEF projects including MegaCharge, FuChar and ENROAD. His contribution will examine the technological, operational and energy-system considerations required for large-scale transport electrification, and how innovation and cross-sector collaboration can enable a scalable and cost-effective EV transition.
