Advancing sustainable transport systems and infrastructure that strengthen regional integration across Africa.

Placide Badji is an Economic Affairs Officer in the Connectivity and Infrastructure Development Section of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). His work focuses on sustainable transport, mobility and infrastructure development, with particular emphasis on regional integration and the intersection of transport and technology.

He leads the African Regional Transport Corridor Management Systems initiative (ARTCOMS) and ECA's electric-vehicle policy support programme, while contributing to other major continental and national transport and infrastructure initiatives.

Before joining the United Nations, Placide worked with the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), the European Union and the African Union Commission. He served as a Technical Advisor and Senior Policy Officer, supporting transport and infrastructure development across Africa.

Placide holds a PhD in Infrastructure and Urban Planning and a master's degree in Transport Management and Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Brussels.
