Piet Gömpel is Chief Architect of EVerest, the Linux Foundation Energy open-source software stack for electric-vehicle charging infrastructure, and a senior engineer at PIONIX GmbH, the company that initiated EVerest and donated it to LF Energy.
Based in Hamburg, Piet has helped shape the project since 2022. He leads its open-source development work and drives implementations of OCPP, ISO 15118 and IEC 61851 that now run on AC and DC chargers worldwide.
Before joining PIONIX, he spent five years at GP JOULE Connect building charging-management systems and energy-system simulation tools.
Piet holds a master’s degree in IT Engineering and has a background in renewable-energy technologies. He is also a regular speaker at conferences and industry webinars.
