H.E. Magnus Lennartsson is Sweden's Ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti and South Sudan, and Permanent Representative to the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
A career diplomat, he has held senior positions within Sweden's Ministry for Foreign Affairs and at the United Nations. His work has covered global policy, development cooperation, humanitarian affairs, conflict prevention and multilateral diplomacy.
Previous roles include Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations in New York, Deputy Director-General and Head of the Global Agenda Department, and Ambassador for Global Health. His diplomatic experience also includes postings in Tokyo and Beijing.
Magnus holds a Master of Arts in International Policy Studies from Stanford University, a Master of Arts in Political Science from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a bachelor's degree in economics, political science and economic history.
At the Africa EV Summit 2026 in Addis Ababa, he joins The Nordic Perspective panel to discuss how Nordic experience, international cooperation and long-term partnerships can support Africa's sustainable electric-mobility transition.
