Katie Mumbua is the Project Manager for East Africa at Smart Freight Centre, where she leads regional programmes that accelerate the decarbonisation of freight and logistics across one of Africa's fastest-growing transport corridors. Working at the intersection of climate action, sustainable transport, and supply chain transformation, she collaborates with governments, logistics providers, fleet operators, development partners, and the private sector to advance low-emission freight solutions throughout the region.
With a strong background in project management, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable mobility, Katie oversees the implementation of strategic initiatives that promote cleaner freight systems, improve emissions transparency, and support the adoption of zero-emission transport technologies. Her work focuses on translating policy ambitions into practical, scalable projects that strengthen regional trade while reducing the environmental impact of the logistics sector.
At Smart Freight Centre, Katie plays a key role in delivering the Green Freight Support Program in Eastern Africa, working alongside public and private stakeholders to build local capacity, develop partnerships, and create enabling conditions for the transition to electric and low-carbon freight transport. Her expertise spans project coordination, ecosystem development, and cross-sector collaboration, helping align regional priorities with global climate and sustainability goals.
