Jit Bhattacharya is the co-founder and CEO of BasiGo, a Nairobi-headquartered company working to electrify Africa's public transport system.
He has been a leader in electric-vehicle and lithium-ion battery technology for more than 18 years. Jit previously served as CEO of Mission Motors, a Silicon Valley company specialising in high-performance electric-vehicle technology, and later worked as a senior manager in Apple's Special Projects Group.
After moving to East Africa in 2017, he served as Chief Technology Officer of Fenix International, one of the region's leading pay-as-you-go solar-home-system companies. Before launching BasiGo, he was a principal at Factor[e] Ventures, one of the first venture-capital funds to invest in African e-mobility.
Jit holds a Master of Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
