Connecting transport engineering, local government and low-emission urban development.

Janvier Twagirimana is a Professional Officer in Climate Change, Energy and Resilience at ICLEI Africa.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering from Stellenbosch University and has more than a decade of experience implementing infrastructure projects in Rwanda, particularly in transport infrastructure and services as well as waste management.

Janvier has worked with development partners and helped prepare policies, strategies and guidelines for Rwanda’s transport sector. His work has included vehicle-inspection reform, public-transport studies and business models, digital transport systems and support for electric-vehicle adoption.

At the Nordic–Africa EV Summit, he brings a city and implementation perspective to discussions on EV skills, climate-resilient mobility and the future of African cities and corridors.
