Hiten Parmar is the Executive Director of The Electric MISSION (South Africa), a non-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the transition towards sustainable mobility and energy systems through market development, industry collaboration, and impactful projects. With more than two decades of professional experience, he has established himself as one of Southern Africa's leading voices on electric mobility, clean transport, and the intersection of technology, policy, and economic development.
Holding a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and an Honours degree in Business Administration, Hiten combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership. He works closely with governments, industry associations, manufacturers, utilities, investors, and development partners to advance electric mobility across South Africa and the broader African region. As Executive Director of The Electric MISSION, he leads initiatives that support policy development, market readiness, innovation, and capacity building to accelerate the adoption of electric transport.
Hiten is a respected thought leader and frequent speaker at regional and international forums, where he contributes to discussions on electric vehicles, renewable energy integration, industrial development, and the future of sustainable transport. He also serves on the Board of the South African Energy Storage Association (SAESA), helping strengthen the link between energy storage and the electrification of transport.
Driven by a vision of equitable, low-carbon mobility, Hiten champions practical collaboration between the public and private sectors to build resilient transport systems that improve air quality, strengthen energy security, and create new economic opportunities across Africa.
