Engineer Getu Geremew Soressa is Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU), a position he has held since February 2025. He is an electrical engineer and energy-sector leader with more than 17 years of experience.
Throughout his career, he has progressed through technical and senior management positions across Ethiopia's electricity sector. Before becoming CEO, he served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of EEU.
His responsibilities have spanned electricity distribution, technical inspection, safety, industrial power supply and regional utility management, giving him extensive operational experience across the national power system.
Engineer Getu holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Hawassa University and has undertaken postgraduate studies in Renewable Energy Technology at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology.
At EEU, he is leading efforts to improve operational efficiency, strengthen electricity-service reliability and modernise Ethiopia's distribution network, an essential foundation for the country's electrification and electric-mobility ambitions.
