Ewnetu Taye Chufa joined TradeMark Africa as Ethiopia Country Director in November 2022, bringing more than three decades of senior leadership in ports, shipping and cross-border logistics.

An MBA graduate from the United Kingdom, Ewnetu has served in senior public- and private-sector management positions. He was General Manager of Ethiopia’s Dry Port Services Enterprise, Lake Tana Transport Enterprise and the Maritime Transit Service in Djibouti, and later Deputy CEO of the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise.

He was one of the lead architects behind the design, launch and implementation of the Ethiopian Multimodal Transport System. At TradeMark Africa, he applies that frontline experience to trade-facilitation projects, digital trade initiatives, quality and standards programmes, electronic cargo tracking, one-stop borders and policy support for AfCFTA implementation and WTO accession.

Known for bringing ministries, private operators and development partners around a shared agenda, Ewnetu focuses on practical reforms that lower costs and keep cargo moving.
