ENDALKACHEW SIME

Dr. Endalkachew Sime is an economist and policy strategist with extensive private-sector experience and a proven track record of advancing Ethiopia’s economic development agenda. He previously served as State Minister of Planning and Development and Secretary General of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations.

He earned his PhD in Economics, specialising in National Development, from Peking University’s Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development in 2025. His award-winning dissertation examined the contribution of industrial parks to Ethiopia’s structural transformation and manufacturing performance.

Dr. Sime combines senior government experience with hands-on private-sector engagement and leadership roles in continental business organisations, including the African Cotton and Textile Industries Federation (ACTIF) and the COMESA Business Council (CBC). He currently serves as Vice Chair and President of the Africa Chapter of the World Rural Tourism Council, as well as Africa Market Advisor for GUIMU Robot.

Recognised for his ability to connect policy, investment and international cooperation, Dr. Sime brings a practical perspective to building resilient, value-adding industrial ecosystems across Africa. He has spoken in more than 15 countries, sharing insights into Africa’s transition from raw-material exports towards circular and integrated value chains, with particular emphasis on electric mobility, renewable energy and sustainable industrial development.

His expertise makes him a valuable contributor to high-level discussions on Africa’s sustainable development and the strategic partnerships needed between stakeholders in the Global South and Global North.
