Dr. Endalkachew Sime is an Ethiopian economist and policy strategist with more than two decades of experience spanning government, private-sector development and continental business organisations. He currently serves as Vice Chair and President of the Africa Chapter of the World Rural Tourism Council.

His public-service experience includes serving as Ethiopia's State Minister of Planning and Development. He has also led national private-sector representation as Secretary General of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations.

Dr. Sime earned a PhD in Economics, specialising in National Development, from Peking University's Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development. His research examined how industrial parks contribute to Ethiopia's structural transformation and manufacturing performance.

He combines policy expertise with practical experience in trade, investment and business development. His work has included leadership responsibilities connected to African textile and cotton industries, regional business cooperation and sustainable rural economic development.

At the Africa EV Summit 2026, Dr. Sime contributes a strategic perspective on Africa's shift from raw-material exports toward circular and integrated value chains, with particular relevance to electric mobility, renewable energy and sustainable industrialisation.
