H.E. Dr. Alemu Sime Feyisa

H.E. Dr. Alemu Sime Feyisa is the Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, where he leads the country's efforts to modernize transport infrastructure, strengthen logistics systems, and accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility. Appointed Minister in January 2023, he oversees the development and implementation of national policies that support economic growth, regional integration, and climate-resilient transport.

Under Dr. Alemu's leadership, Ethiopia has emerged as one of Africa's most ambitious electric mobility markets. The Ministry has introduced progressive policies to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles, expand charging infrastructure, improve freight and logistics efficiency, and position Ethiopia as a regional leader in green transportation. He has consistently championed investment in electric mobility, emphasizing the country's abundant renewable energy resources and strong government commitment to a low-carbon transport future.

Before becoming Minister, Dr. Alemu served as Deputy Director of the Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC), where he contributed to industrial development and organizational transformation. His career also includes senior leadership roles in public administration and national development, providing him with extensive experience in infrastructure, institutional reform, and strategic policy implementation. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Managementfrom the Ethiopian Civil Service College, a Master's degree in Development Management from Addis Ababa University, and has completed doctoral studies at Chongqing University.

As a strong advocate for regional connectivity and sustainable development, Dr. Alemu represents Ethiopia in international transport and infrastructure initiatives, including serving on the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) Advisory Board. He continues to promote collaboration between governments, industry, investors, and development partners to build a modern, integrated, and environmentally sustainable transport system that supports Ethiopia's long-term economic transformation and Africa's green mobility agenda.
