H.E. Dr. Alemu Sime Feyisa is the Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Appointed in January 2023, he leads national efforts to modernise transport infrastructure, strengthen logistics systems and accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility.
Under Dr. Alemu's leadership, Ethiopia has emerged as one of Africa's most ambitious electric mobility markets. The Ministry has introduced progressive policies to encourage electric vehicle adoption, expand charging infrastructure, improve freight and logistics efficiency and position Ethiopia as a regional leader in green transport.
Before becoming Minister, Dr. Alemu served as Deputy Director of the Metals and Engineering Corporation, contributing to industrial development and organisational transformation. His wider career includes senior roles in public administration, infrastructure, institutional reform and strategic policy implementation.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Management from the Ethiopian Civil Service College, a Master's degree in Development Management from Addis Ababa University and has completed doctoral studies at Chongqing University.
A strong advocate for regional connectivity and sustainable development, Dr. Alemu represents Ethiopia in international transport and infrastructure initiatives, including the United Nations Road Safety Fund Advisory Board. He promotes collaboration between governments, industry, investors and development partners to build an integrated, environmentally sustainable transport system.
