Biography

Turning policy into
safer mobility.

Helping African cities translate transport ambition into safer, more inclusive and scalable mobility systems.

Diana Laboso is a transport planner and policy specialist with more than seven years of experience advancing safer, more sustainable urban mobility across Kenya, Ethiopia and the wider African region.

Her work spans transport policy, road safety, urban street design and sustainable transport finance. She supports governments in developing evidence-based policies, financing strategies and implementation pathways tailored to local contexts, with a growing focus on accelerating the transition to electric public transport systems across African cities.

Diana is recognised for translating strategy into action. She works with governments and partners to embed Safe Systems principles, strengthen public transport systems and deliver more inclusive streets for all road users.

She holds an MSc in Transport Planning and Engineering from the University of Leeds and a BSc in Civil Engineering. Diana is a TUMI Global Urban Leader and a Johns Hopkins Global Road Safety Leadership Scholar, among other recognitions.
