Bernard Chiira is the Founder and CEO of AT4D, the Assistive Technologies for Disability Trust. He is a recognised leader in startup support and innovation-ecosystem development in Kenya and across Africa.
A global expert in assistive and digital technology innovation, disability-inclusive artificial intelligence and inclusive innovation ecosystems, Bernard has helped build one of Africa's most prominent disability-innovation networks. Through AT4D, he has directly supported more than 100 assistive-technology startups.
His work spans African-led early-stage ecosystem development, investment for assistive-technology ventures, equitable AI, inclusive design, entrepreneurship training and venture capital. He also serves as a board member, adviser and professional speaker on disability innovation and technology inclusion.
Bernard holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Strathmore University and has completed professional development in venture capital and new-venture development through Stanford University.
At the Africa EV Summit 2026 in Addis Ababa, he contributes to two sessions on Driving an Inclusive E-Mobility Transition, bringing disability inclusion, accessible technology and inclusive innovation into the conversation about Africa's electric-mobility future.
