Alex Munene

Alex Munene is the Founder and Fleet Mobility Expert at Advanced Mobility Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, where he leads initiatives focused on accelerating the adoption of electric mobility across Africa through technical training, fleet management consulting, and capacity building. With nearly two decades of experience in fleet management, vehicle leasing, project management, dealer management, and advanced driver training, he has become one of Kenya's leading voices in the transition to sustainable transport.

Prior to founding Advanced Mobility, Alex built his career in the automotive industry, including extensive experience with Toyota Kenya, where he managed large commercial fleets and developed expertise in fleet optimization and driver performance. Throughout his career, he has overseen the management of more than 6,000 fleet vehicles and drivers across multiple industries.

Alex is widely recognized for pioneering Kenya's first dedicated EV Driver Training and E-Mobility Technical Training programmes. Through Advanced Mobility, he has trained hundreds of drivers, technicians, fleet managers, and TVET students, while also contributing to curriculum development, industry research, and professional capacity building within the region's growing electric mobility ecosystem.

Beyond training, Alex is an active advisor, speaker, and thought leader on electric mobility. He regularly contributes to policy discussions, industry conferences, and technical forums, working alongside organizations such as the Electric Mobility Association of Kenya (EMAK), GIZ, Kenya Power, BasiGo, Roam, AfricaNEV, and other public and private sector partners. He also serves as a part-time facilitator at Strathmore Business School and is a member of the advisory board for the Smarter Mobility Africa Summit.

Driven by the belief that technical skills and practical knowledge are fundamental to Africa's energy transition, Alex continues to champion affordable, scalable electric mobility solutions that improve fleet efficiency, strengthen local expertise, and support sustainable economic development across the continent.
