Preparing EV fleets
for Africa.
Connecting fleet operations, technical training and driver skills to the practical adoption of electric mobility in Africa.
Alex Munene is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Advance Mobility Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, where he leads work in e-mobility capacity building, fleet-management consulting and advanced driver training.
Alex brings more than 20 years of experience across fleet management, vehicle leasing, project management, dealer operations and advanced driver training. He has directly managed more than 6,000 fleet vehicles and drivers across multiple industries and sectors.
His work focuses on improving fleet availability, operational safety and vehicle utilisation while helping organisations prepare for the technical and organisational changes required by electric vehicles.
Alex believes technical skills are a central pillar of Africa's EV transition. Through Advance Mobility Centre, he organised Kenya's first EV driver-training and e-mobility technical-training programmes and continues to support operators, manufacturers and mobility organisations across the sector.
He also leads the Africa EV Summit E-Bus Initiative, connecting practical electric-bus deployment with training, fleet operations and the wider development of sustainable public transport systems in Africa.
At the Africa EV Summit 2026 in Addis Ababa, Alex contributes a practical fleet and workforce perspective to discussions on electric bus rapid transit, e-bus deployment and the skills required to train the next generation of African e-mobility professionals.
