Africa's mobility
future.
Africa's mobility and energy transitions need rigorous evidence, practical policy and a new generation of professionals equipped to turn ambition into working transport systems.
Edna Mercy Manyasa is Director of Transport Futures, an independent African transport think tank working at the intersection of mobility and energy transitions for the continent's socio-economic transformation.
A transportation engineer, Edna is also an Assistant Lecturer at Egerton University in Kenya and a PhD candidate in Transportation Engineering at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Her expertise spans transport research and data, electric mobility, sustainable mobility, transport policy and intelligent transport systems.
Her professional experience includes supporting electric-mobility projects as a consultant with UN-Habitat, road-infrastructure work at the Kenya Urban Roads Authority, and renewable-energy and power transmission projects. This breadth allows her to connect transport planning, energy systems, infrastructure and implementation.
Edna is passionate about electric mobility in Africa and about mentoring the next generation of transport professionals. She has been recognised as a Catalyst for Change in Sustainable Transport in Africa and is an Agora Sustainable Transport Fellow.
As Master of Ceremony at the Africa EV Summit, Edna brings technical depth, an African systems perspective and the ability to connect policy, research, industry and the practical realities of mobility transformation.
